Music and Dance programs for Indigenous youth have constantly shown to have positive health, social and educational outcomes.  Through Indigenous specific programs the Songlines Youth Music Program has the benefit of strengthening culture, identity and self esteem through art especially to youth at risk or in care.

Koorie Pride Youth Festival

Proudly supported by the City of Darebin, Koorie Justice Unit, Freeza and Vic Health the festival aims to develop, support and showcase youth Indigenous arts. The Koorie Pride Youth Festival is held in April of each year. Click here for more information.

Survival Day Share the Spirit

With dedicated youth entertainment, the Share The Spirit Festival – Youth Stage is targeted to the 2000+ Indigenous youth attending the festival. Programming on the youth stage consists of youth performances in music and dance, youth MC’s, massive Indigenous hip hop clinics, and DJing. Click here for more information.

Koorie Pride Youth Workshops

The holiday program is held over 2 school holiday breaks (after school term 1 and term 3). The program consists of 4 full days of music and dance development with a performance. It’s a great way to get rid of the holiday blues! Click here for more information.

Music Tutoring

The Individual Tutoring program is held during the school terms and offers one on one music lessons to Indigenous young people in the areas of guitar, piano, vocals, drums and hip hop. This program is run to teach solid skills and techniques in their chosen field to further develop themselves as artists and performers. Click here for more information.

Koorie Pride Youth Committee

The Koorie Pride Youth Committee was established to allow young Indigenous people to have a say about our youth program and to guide our youth events. Our youth committee works to ensure that our programs remain in the best interests of our youth community. Click here for more information.

School and after-school programs

Songlines has the capacity to work with schools, providing them with insightful and valuable cultural knowledge programs, as well as music and dance programs for Indigenous young people. Songlines also has the capacity to run after-school programs in partnership with other community groups and organisations.
